Asbarez 100th
by Paul Chaderjian
Words are what I am. Words are what I have. Words are what I can offer. They are at my core, in my ink and on my paper. They are from my heart, from my memory and from my soul. They are what define us, make us and drive us. They are what awaken us and put us to eternal rest. Words are our prayers, our religion and our aspirations. Words are our harmony, our discontent and our collective dream.
Words have come naturally, have come with sacrifice, have come at great financial cost. They have flowed and flow with thought and with an agenda, a program. They are mine because I write them for the moment, and yours for reading them well into the future. We write them together because the words come to us, and we read because these words are our gift from you to us and from us to you. It's what we share. It's our passion. It's what creates our communion and our community.
We read words, reread them and can never have enough. We read and cherish the idea of reading words others write. Their words entertain us, educate us, inform us direct our personal and collective efforts. Their words make us not feel so alone, make us think thoughts we would have not otherwise thought, and they take us places where we cannot go. With words, we go where we want to but can’t due to financial, familial, social, physical, geopolitical and psychological constraints.
The greatest words you have read here are about men and women sacrificing individuality in favor of community. The greatest stories I have brought you are the trials and tribulation of the heroes, of past and future fedayees, of men writing constitutions and taking up arms, of men creating history, men creating literature and men creating community. The greatest of these words is what bless us with the knowledge that our people will never run out of words, because we will never run out of stories or history.
Ours are the words of men and women traveling to and through the great geographic centers of our cultural heritage. Ours are the words that hold the hands of people from all walks of life, engage in dialogue with people from all beaten and unbeaten paths. Ours are words of unity, trinity and of progress through the physical realm, of revolution, of wars won and homelands defended. Our words are the fiber and fuel that feed Internet and broadcast media, that create and heal, that feed and cloth the wordsmiths and printers who create and provide this arena, this Asbarez.
Go on and create more words, write about things that we should learn and ideas that we need to hear. Write about your children and what is rightly yours. Write about what's right and what's wrong. Write so that my ink will never go dry and my pages will never go blank. Write because your words are mine, and our words together are the path to creating more words. Always words.
